XciteDigital.com – Our First week

September 22, 2008

The first week has been good, quite hard setting everything up and then working through a project that needed to be live as soon as possible but it has been manageable. I am shaking off the relaxing stress free vibe i had coming back from holiday and making me assert my self to the bigger picture which is definitely needed.

You start off with a million great ideas, and then slowly you realise that your time is being chewed up on the smallest tasks. The tasks you always take for granted, and if you think about it, make up a very very small precentage of what you see as helping the business. But they all need completing, from setting up your email signature, styling your invoices, putting all the files into the right place, setting up your development server… everything always takes longer than expected… especially when its your company!

I still have the ideas i thought about when Xcite Digital was a pipe dream, and now i have the books to back up my theory. I want to run to get to where im going though, i need to tell myself to walk. I know what i need to know (not everything of course, not by a long shot – but as far as my creativity allows), and i know how to excute my amazing ideas into action.

To be able to take a client from a concept through to a success story is now a realisation, as long as we can walk together and understand how the market will unfold. Putting every ounce of budgetable online marketing and usability know how into a project so we can succeed together.

This is my dream anyway, taking every element of a business and transforming the way it works to exceed whatever expectation is set. Running past the deliverables, pushing businesses forwards in ways they didnt know possible.

Just makes me excited to know that this is now a possibility. :O)

I would welcome the opportunity to see how i could help you achieve your dream, please feel free to email on rob@xcitedigital.com

Xcite Digital: Day 1. Rob Walker – MD.

XciteDigital.com

My first working day in the office yesterday felt great, i had everything set up properly and i just needed to go through and put all the files in place.

All seems a little different, the unexpected makes it all the more daunting but makes you work harder and get up earlier. Sure this will be a familiar feeling if and when cash flow takes effect.

It is unbelievable all of the small tiny things you have to do your self that you would take for granted working for another company. Everyone who has been through it explains its harder, or more complicated, but you can only see this at 11pm when your searching for a file you know is there. Then you realise you have to create a new SEO form, or your design survey needs changing because the previous version is from the company you have just left.

Dont get me wrong, the freedom and flexibility are amazing. The realisation that a client is actually going to work with you simply because of yourself, and not the beast of another company is a much greater feeling. Somthing that makes working the longer hours a lot easier.

I have more choice about what to do, i have the ability to make clients a lot happier and listen to their exact needs and work to deliver a solution ideally suited for them. The intrinsic rewards of what i do and who i am are now being realised simply because of my clients!
